  • Visa Inc. released data indicating 51% of all purchases across nine stadiums in France hosting the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 were done with contactless cards or devices, including wearables and smart phones. The group stage of the soccer tournament ran from June 7 to June 20. Visa is the official payment-services partner of FIFA.
  • SkinSolutions MD LLC, an online seller of skincare products, said information entered on its Web site between April 19 and June 6, including names, card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes, may have been compromised in a “security incident.” The company said it began mailing letters on Wednesday to notify persons who may have been “personally affected.”
  • The China-based global payments app Alipay announced it has committed RMB 1 billion ($145.3 million) to women’s soccer in China. Alipay is a unit of Ant Financial Services Group.
  • A Japanese wallet app called Kyash has raised $14 million in Series B funding led by Goodwater Capital, bringing total funding for the company to $26 million.
  • Payments provider PayU will enter the Southeast Asia market with an agreement to acquire Red Dot Payment, a Singapore-based firm. Price was not disclosed. PayU is one of 28 companies and organizations backing the Libra cryptocurrency initiative led by Facebook Inc.
  • Users of the Liquid network reportedly are now able to make Bitcoin transactions using Lightning technology, which is designed to bypass Bitcoin congestion. Liquid is a Bitcoin-based network used by securities exchanges, brokers, and market makers.
